This institute established in 2008-09, as Govt. Polytechnic for Women at Morni, Panchkula with sanctioned intake of 60 in Diploma in Computer Engg., and intake of 60 in Diploma in Hotel Management . Later on in 2014, Diploma of Hotel Management was discontinued and two new courses namely, Diploma in Medical Lab Technology and Diploma in Architecture Assistantship were introduced in the institute. The Polytechnic has been functioning under society mode.
The Polytechnic is located in the most beautiful location of Shivalik Hills on the high bank of river Ghaggar at Morni in Distt. Panchkula.. It is about 44 kilometers from Chandigarh Bus Stand and about 38. 9 KM from Chandigarh Railway Station. The exact location of the polytechnic is the main road at about 1Km from Morni at village Behlon on Morni -Panchkula road which is State Highway no. 83.
GP Morni is affiliated to Haryana State Board of Technical Education, Bay No 7 to 12, Sector 4, Panchkula (Haryana). It has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education New Delhi with an intake of 60 seats each in the trade of Computer Engineering & Medical Lab Technology and 30 seats in Architectural Assistantship.The polytechnic is being run under the Department of Technical Education Haryana through a Govt. constituted society.
